Fine wine buyer Jessica Bryans reviews new discovery The Remedy Wine Bar…
I have to give credit when it is due and so a little write-up is in order for The Remedy Wine Bar & Kitchen on Cleveland Street in West London. I had been meaning to stop in since fellow wine lover Jaime Goode recommended it as his favourite place to drink wine in London and finally, on Saturday, I made it.
Five of us had planned to stop in for a light dinner and a bottle of wine: however, The Remedy is so utterly enjoyable we closed the place down after several hours of eating and drinking incredible wines. It was hard to say no to oysters and Crémant (oysters are £1 all day on Saturday), Toulouse sausage and frites paired with Foillard Cotes de Py Morgon (being poured from a magnum), by the glass pours of Gimmonet Blanc de Blancs and an endless selection of gorgeous wines, all priced incredibly fairly. Some of the highlights on the wine list include a few deliciously mineral Sancerres from Francois Cotat, Gravner’s weird and wonderful 1998 Breg, magnums of Larmandier-Bernier Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru and old vintages of Côte Rotie from Jamet.
I would be remiss not to mention that the service was some of the friendliest and I have received in London and the staff seemed genuinely passionate about wine.
The Remedy is most definitely one of the best places to drink wine in London.
